The Rev. Dr. Jay Emerson Johnson

Fr. Jay was called as the 22nd rector of All Saints’ Parish in May, 2020. He was born in Ann Arbor, MI, grew up outside of Chicago, and after graduating from Wheaton College and Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1988. He served as a parish priest in the Diocese of Chicago for three years before moving to Berkeley, CA, to work on a PhD in theology, which he completed in 1998.Before moving back “home” to Michigan, Jay served as a member of the associate clergy at the Church of the Good Shepherd since 1992 and as a member of the faculty at Pacific School of Religion and the Graduate Theological Union since 2003, all in Berkeley. Jay happily shares his life with Judah, an Australian shepherd dog.

Deacon Francis began serving at All Saints immediately after his diaconal ordination in June of 2018. A cradle Episcopalian and Navy veteran he is a graduate of the Iona Collaborative / Seminary of the Southwest and EFM (Education for Ministry). In November 2004 he was received as an oblate of the monastic order of Benedictines (under the auspices of The Episcopal Church) at St. Gregory’s in Three Rivers, Michigan, following years of formation as a contemplative in the Benedictine tradition

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, after graduating from Washington & Lee University and The General Theological Seminary, Jim has served Episcopal churches spanning the country, from Tulsa to Seattle to New York City and Washington D.C. In 2016 he retired as Director of Ministries in the Diocese of Chicago and moved, with his husband Tom Chesrown, to Saugatuck. Although since “retiring,” Jim has worked at several nearby Episcopal churches—including Epiphany, South Haven and, more  recently, Grace, Holland—he and Tom call All Saints home.

David Mason received the M. Div. from The General Theological Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in 1962. In 1973 he earned the Ph.D. from The University of Chicago, and was an Episcopal Church Fellow. He has served Episcopal churches in West Virginia, Cleveland Heights, OH, and Pasadena, CA prior to coming to Saugatuck with his wife, Margaret. Dr. Mason taught theology for forty years at John Carroll University in Cleveland, and has published three books on theology and philosophy.
